Samuel Eto'os Resignation as President of Fecafoot Declined, Executive Committee Offers Support

Despite his decision to step down as president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot), Samuel Eto’o’s resignation has been turned down by the Executive Committee. Elected in December 2021, the former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea striker has had a turbulent time at the helm of the federation, marred by allegations of corruption and impropriety. His appointment of Rigobert Song, a former teammate, as coach of the national team has also failed to yield satisfactory results. Cameroon's recent exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at the round of 16 stage after a defeat to Nigeria further soured Eto'o's tenure. Despite resigning at a meeting on Monday, the Fecafoot Executive Committee declined Eto’o's resignation and instead offered their support.
