In Nigeria, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) successfully intercepted a large shipment of Ghanaian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis sativa. The seizure took place on January 28, 2024, in the Ojuelegba area of Lagos.
The operation involved two trucks and a J5 bus, resulting in a total seizure of 14,524.8 kilograms. During the operation, two drivers managed to escape from their moving vehicles, but the authorities were able to apprehend a third driver named Nasiru Ojomu, who is 66 years old. Ojomu was found to be linked to Suleiman Jimoh, also known as Olowo Idi Ogede or Temo, a notorious drug baron based in Mushin.
The NDLEA remains dedicated to combating drug supply and reducing drug demand, as emphasized by the Chairman/CEO, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), who commended the efforts of the officers involved in the operation and urged them to remain vigilant moving forward.
In the ongoing battle against drug trafficking, the NDLEA's recent success marks a crucial step in safeguarding communities. As they remain steadfast in their commitment to reducing both the supply and demand for illicit substances, the tireless efforts of officers, exemplified in the recent interception, showcase the agency's dedication to a safer and healthier society. With vigilant determination, the NDLEA continues to stand as a formidable force against the illicit drug trade, safeguarding the well-being of the nation.
