Michael Biopic: Casting and Details.

Shifting the focus from grand pop biopics that have highlighted music legends like Freddie Mercury, Elton John, and Whitney Houston, the attention now turns to the highly-anticipated Michael Jackson film titled "Michael." Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the biopic is set to commence filming this year and aims to provide a comprehensive portrayal of the King of Pop's life, including his iconic performances.
After an extensive global search, the lead role has been secured by Jaafar Jackson, Michael's 26-year-old nephew. In collaboration with Jackson's estate, the film bravely tackles the complexities surrounding the enigmatic figure, addressing controversial issues.
While an official release date has yet to be announced, rumors are circulating that the film may debut in 2025. The project is being helmed by director Graham King and scriptwriter John Logan, who strive to offer an authentic depiction despite the challenges highlighted in the 2019 docuseries, "Leaving Neverland." Domestic distribution is being handled by Lionsgate, while Universal manages international distribution.
Produced by John Branca and John McClain, "Michael" promises to reveal the true humanity and creative brilliance of the late King of Pop. It is believed that the film might replace "The Exorcist: Deceiver" on Universal's schedule, as the studio searches for a new director for the horror sequel, resulting in an uncertain future for the project.
